WIN YOUR

studio recording
100 % analog

and leave with your vinyle

Geysa Productions and Johnson’s Records are launching an open call for projects centered around analog recording and vinyl. Six artists or bands will be shortlisted and put to a public vote. Following the vote, three selected projects will each receive two days of studio time at Johnson’s Records to record two tracks. The six tracks will then be brought together on a shared 12-inch vinyl record.

What’s included

  • Two days of studio time at Johnson’s Records.
  • Day one dedicated to tracking and recording two tracks.
  • Day two dedicated to mixing and mastering.
  • A fully analog studio workflow, with no computers used during the recording process.
  • The recording of two tracks, with a maximum combined duration of 10 minutes.
  • Both tracks featured on a shared 12-inch vinyl record bringing together the three selected projects.
  • Vinyl pressing costs fully covered.
  • One copy of the vinyl record provided free of charge to each selected project.
  • The option to purchase additional copies at cost price.

Conditions

The call is open to solo artists and groups, with no age limit, from Belgium and abroad.
Applicants must submit an artistic project that is sufficiently developed to enter the studio. The tracks, arrangements and instrumentation choices must be prepared in advance of the recording sessions.
The tracks recorded as part of the project must be original compositions. Each selected project will record two tracks, with a combined maximum duration of 10 minutes.
Artists must agree to the specific characteristics and constraints associated with the analogue recording process.
Any specific technical requirements or particular needs must be communicated in advance so that the studio can assess their feasibility.
Travel, accommodation and meal expenses are not covered and remain the responsibility of the participants.
The recordings made as part of the project are intended for a physical vinyl release. Their public distribution or digital exploitation may not take place without prior agreement between the parties concerned. This provision applies only to the recordings made as part of this project and does not prevent artists from exploiting their compositions in other versions.
Photo and video content will be produced throughout the project and may be used by Geysa Productions and Johnson’s Records to document and promote the project and the vinyl release, including on their websites, social media and other communication channels.
The three projects ultimately selected will be invited to sign, prior to the start of the recording sessions, an agreement setting out the conditions governing the production and exploitation of the recordings, as well as the authorisations required for the project.
